What we think about Manus AI Agents

When we tested Manus, we discovered it functions more as a chatbot with slide-making features and messaging app integration, rather than a full AI agent. Meta acquired Manus, but we'll keep our review fair and balanced.

Setting up Manus requires integration through Telegram, LINE, or Slack. We scanned a QR code with our phone to link our Telegram account with Manus. We found this setup a bit disruptive since we prefer keeping phone activities separate from work tasks. Later, we figured out that downloading the desktop app allows us to work from our computer too.

We appreciated that Manus is honest about what it can and cannot do right from the start. It told us it wouldn't be able to write emails and that Domain Ratings would be estimates only. When we gave Manus a complex research task, it warned us to expect 15-20 minutes for completion and promised to send updates along the way.

However, Manus calculated our Domain Rating with a 20-point difference compared to Ahrefs. This created a shaky foundation because it then matched pages with lower domain ratings to ours. The blog link quality we received was disappointing - Manus basically only gave us competitor links.

The email drafts Manus created were decent quality. But we ran into a workflow problem since the files landed on our phone first. We had to transfer them to our desktop before we could copy and paste the content into our emails.

We also asked Manus if it could edit the spreadsheets it created for us. Unfortunately, it can't make changes to existing files. Instead, Manus generates a completely new file each time. This reminded us of the old days when we had so many different file versions that we completely lost track of everything.

We wanted to like working with Manus since it could serve as a no-cost alternative. But keep in mind that you're sharing your data with Meta. Right now, this AI agent just doesn't offer enough practical value for regular use.

What users think about Manus AI Agents

Users generally appreciate that Manus integrates directly into messaging platforms they already use daily, making it easy to access without switching between multiple apps. Many people like the straightforward setup process through QR code scanning, even though it ties the tool to mobile devices initially.

Some users find value in Manus for quick research tasks and basic information gathering when they're on the go. The transparency about limitations is something users mention positively - they know what to expect before investing time in complex requests.

However, users frequently point out the same workflow issues we encountered. The inability to edit existing documents and the constant creation of new files frustrates people who need to iterate on their work. Users also note that the accuracy of data analysis could be better, especially when compared to established tools in their respective fields.

The messaging app requirement is a common complaint among users who prefer keeping their communication channels separate from work tools. Many users wish Manus offered a standalone web interface for a more traditional work environment.
